Trash days in few of our housing complexes
In May 2023, we’ll arrange a POP UP tour in few of our housing complexes again. This year the tour theme is recycling, so our tour is called trash days! During the trash days, we’ll set up a service tent in the yard area near the waste collection points, where you can come to discuss about housing-related matters and pick up tenant benefits. We’ll serve grilled sausages too. The service point is open 3-6pm everyday during the trash days. You can visit any service point you want despite the housing complex you live in, trash days are directed to all our tenants. Welcome!
Trash Days tour schedule
- Tuesday 9 May 3.00-6.00pm: Vaahterakuja, Peltolammi
- Wednesday 10 May 3.00-6.00pm: Ritakatu 13, Ruotula
- Thursday 11 May 3.00-6.00pm: Nuolialantie 48, Härmälä
Tenant Benefit: Biowaste bin and paper bags
In many of our housing complexes, littering has unfortunately increased. We receive feedback about garbage thrown in the wrong places regularly. Therefore this year, we encourage our tenants to recycle!
In many of our apartments, there are only a couple of different waste bins in the kitchen. Now we provide an odorless biowaste bin and waterproof paper bags suitable for the bin as a tenant benefit. The bins are made from recycled materials and they are supplied by Finnish company called Jubilo.

The waste bins are made to ensure the best air ventilation. In this way, the biowaste can dry out and does not cause unpleasant odors. Change the bag every few days. You can use any similar-sized paper bags in the bio-waste bin.
Biowaste bins and the paper bags are distributed in our service points during the trash days. The number of bins is limited and they will be distributed in queuing order for as long as we have them. Maximum of 1 bio waste bin/household. The biowaste bins are available for all our tenants, so you can pick up your tenant benefit from any tour location, regardless of which housing complex you live in. If there are any biowaste bins left after the tour, we will provide more information on how to get one.

POAS will take actions to save energy, and we hope that all our tenants will do their part to keep the rents reasonable next year as well. In this article we introduce our energy saving actions. The representatives of tenant committees have been involved in planning of these measures.
There are various nationwide energy saving campaigns aiming to encourage everyone to participate in energy saving and thus affect the total consumption. POAS takes part in the nationwide energy campaign called “Down a degree”. The campaign is organized by Motiva, Energy Authority, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland, Ministry of the Environment, Prime Minister’s Office and The Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra. Read more information and see the energy saving tips from the campaign website.
In November 2022, we had a sauna-free month. The common saunas of all our buildings were out of use from 31 October to 27 November 2022. The sauna-free month saves about 37,000 kWh of electricity. During the sauna-free month, tenant committees reviewed the utilization rates of the common saunas. Tenant committee of each housing complex has planned the new sauna shifts considering the utilization rates. We aim that the sauna stoves do not heat up unnecessarily when the shifts are not reserved.

Energy competition
POAS carried out an energy-saving project, which aimed to save water and electricity as well as increase the waste recycling rate in our housing complexes. In the pilot phase of the project, we organized an energy competition in selected housing complexes.
We selected three housing complexes to participate in the energy competition. Water and electricity consumption as well as the amount of mixed waste was monitored for three months in the following complexes: Ristinarkuntie 18, Mekaniikanpolku 6 and Vaahterakuja 1. During the campaign, we provided energy saving tips and energy consumption figures on the screens located in the hallway of the buildings.
The campaign has ended. Water and electricity consumption did not decrease during the campaign, so there were no winners. Therefore we have decided not to expand this project to other complexes. To thank all tenants who participated in the competition, we invited all tenants from these housing complexes to a free movie night! The registration link was sent to tenants by email.
POAS’s first facelift renovation is carried out in our housing complex of Insinöörinkatu 59 during this fall. Facelift renovation increases the technical lifespan of the apartments as well as the living comfort of the tenants. The renovation includes renewing the floors, if those haven’t been done before, as well as new cabinet doors and handles. In addition, new countertops, taps, lamps and backsplash will be installed in the kitchens.

New materials are stylish and modern: the kitchens have white cabinet doors, and the new floor is beautiful wood-patterned vinyl.
Tenants do not have to move out due the renovation, as they can live in the apartments throughout the whole renovation. For one apartment, the working time is a few days. The apartment-specific work schedule has been sent to the tenants by e-mail.
Apply for these apartments
The first apartments have already been completed, and the entire project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022. As the project continues, renovated apartments will become available for rent. The apartment selection of Insinöörinkatu 59 includes spacious studio-apartments, 1-bedroom apartments of different sizes as well as 2-bedroom apartments. There is a spacious balcony and sauna in all apartments.
Insinöörinkatu 59 was built in 2002, and it is located in Hervanta right next to the tram line. Apartments of this housing complex are primarily offered to working people under the age of 30. See photos of the renovated apartments and information about available apartments from our apartment selection.

These apartments are applied similarly as all our apartments, by sending a housing application on our website. Apply for apartment here!

POAS offers snacks!
Due to corona virus situation, it is a safe choice to skip tenant events this year as well, so we wanted to offer another tenant benefit instead. According to the customer survey conducted in February, the most desirable benefit was a discount code for home delivery of food, so we decided to go for it! Also, we wanted to support local restaurants during these times.
POAS offers tenants a €15 discount code to Foodora food delivery service! We will send instructions on how to redeem the discount to our tenants via email. NOTE! There is a limited number of codes available, so redeem your benefit soon! The codes are valid until 31 July 2021.
Enjoy!

POAS introduces a new tenant survey tool. All our tenants receive a general survey once a year, which is sent by text message to your mobile phone (by e-mail if the phone number is not known). We will ask your feedback also after moving in and out, as well as on how we handled Notices of Defects. With the new tool we are able to collect more comprehensive feedback, and answering the survey is easier than before!
In the future, we will report the feedback received during the previous year annually. Tenant feedback is utilized in the development of our services and housing complexes, so we kindly ask you to answer the surveys. As before, Finnkino movie tickets are drawn among the respondents.
