Processing of personal data

The leasing out of apartments which is undertaken by Pirkan Opiskelija-asunnot Oy (hereafter referred to as POAS) requires the processing of personal data. The basis for the processing of personal data is the client relationship, other relevant connection, or consent which is expressed by the client. Personal data is used for reasons such as managing the client relationship, conducting client satisfaction research and other surveys, client communications, apartment maintenance, and marketing. POAS pays particular attention to the protection of the privacy and personal data of the client and observes good data processing practice.

Personal data is collected mainly from the clients themselves. In addition to this, personal data is collected from the credit reference register of Suomen Asiakastieto Oy and from the population data system of the Population Register Centre.

POAS can also collect data on user terminal devices through its website using cookies and other such technology, including web analytics (for more information see: Terms of service). As a general rule, any data which is collected will not be disclosed to any party outside of POAS, with the exception of situations in which the owner of an apartment changes, or when cooperating with the parties listed in the data protection plan.

According to the Personal Data Act, the data subject has the right to access and check data them that has been entered into the personal data file. A request to access the data cannot be made by phone; the request must be made in writing and has to be signed by the data subject. The request must include full name, address, and identification number. Please indicate whether you want to access data regarding a specific issue or transaction, data covering a specific period of time, or all data.

The client has the right to request the rectification, deletion, or supplementation of any data on them which has been entered into the data file but which is incorrect, outdated, incomplete, or unnecessary as regards the purpose of processing. Requests for corrections should be addressed to:

The right to prohibit processing means that the data subject has the right to prohibit the controller of the data file from using their personal data for direct marketing purposes. Previously granted direct marketing permission can also be retracted at any time by informing POAS about the prohibition, via email at: toimisto(a)poas.fi.
