The Good Holiday Spirit collection supports impoverished families during the holiday season.

The collection is organized by the Finnish Red Cross and the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare and with Yle. Collection will be launched on 22nd of November and will last until 24th of December.

The collected funds will be used for distributing 28,000 food vouchers that help families with scarce resources to have a festive holiday meal.

POAS website was updated earlier in the spring. The website also has a new feature for tenants; asukassivusto.poas.fi -tenant portal.

On tenant portal tenants can:

  • view their lease agreements
    (agreements made before 1st of May, may not necessarily be available)
  • view their payment information
  • send direct messages to the rent collection and customer service
  • update their contact information
  • submit notice of defects (pictures can be attached and progress to be followed)
  • terminate their contract

You will need your online banking authentication when registering for the service the first time. Then you can create your own password. If you don’t have banking authentication, you can register at the POAS office using your passport or ID card.

If you have problems registering, please contact the POAS office.

POAS is building EcoCompass and developing POAS´s environmental responsibility work. In addition of developing environmental responsibility, also environmental responsibility communications will be increased during autumn.

POAS also supports renewable and clean energy production and has rented 45 solar panels from Taraste solar park!

1200 solar panels will be built in the Taraste solar park, the first 480 being completed in summer 2018 and the rest of them next year. Read more about solar park. (Only in Finnish)

Living in a shared apartment comes with many good things. They are for example more affordable than studios, and you get to know new people! But if living with stranger in a shared apartment is too frightening, you can apply to a shared apartment with a friend!

If you wish to live with a friend in a shared apartment, follow these steps:

1. Find a friend, that needs an apartment and is either student or a young working person under 30.

2. Fill in a shared application in which you chose “cell” or shared apartment as an housing type. Fill in both applicants information.

3. Notify us on application´s ”other reasons” section that you are applying together for a shared apartment.

You can apply with a friend to 2 person´s shared apartment. Both applicants must meet the POAS criteria: to be either student or a young working person under 30. POAS checks the application and if we can offer the apartment you can live in a shared apartment with your friend!

POAS will check both applicant´s credit history and you must deliver applications appendices if we offer an apartment to you.

Students are required to prove that they are currently studying by presenting one of the following:

  • a certificate of studies from your school, dated no more than three months ago
  • a student admission letter from your school, accepted until the date your studies begin
  • Kela’s valid decision on the payment of a study grant, including the name of the student and the school
  • a student card that includes the name of the student and the school and has a valid year tag, granted by a students’ union.

Working people shall present one of the following:

  • the latest wage slip for a period of a month
  • a valid employment contract

Notice that you can apply with a friend who is opposite sex than you! In this case you need to be prepared to prove to Kela that you are not a couple or belong to same household.

The apartments are rented to students and to working people under 30 years of age. Students do not have age limit. If you apply together with somebody else only one of the applicants needs to meet the criteria. POAS has over 30 buildings around Tampere and apartment types are shared apartments, studios, two room and three room apartments. You can fill in an application here.

Tips and instructions how to apply

1. Get to know our apartments

Before you fill in an application, get to know our apartments carefully. POAS has over 30 buildings around Tampere. Notice that some of our apartments are primarily ment for students. You can find this information on every apartments presentation text. Search for apartments. 

2. Only apply for those apartments you are willing to accept

Only apply for those apartments you are willing to accept. If you turn down an apartment offered to you that fits your criteria, it lowers your chances to get another offer from us in the future. In the summer there are thousands of applicants and for that reason we always take consideration if we have already offered apartment to applicant. Apply only for apartments that are suitable for you and that you would like to live.

3. Don´t limit your application too much

Do you need to have your own sauna in your apartment? Or could you live a little further from your school? In Tampere public transport works really good. The truth is that you have better chances to get an apartment if your limitations on application are smaller! Think carefully in which cases you are willing to compromise and which things are necessities to you.

4. Remember shared apartments

Even if living in studio apartment might be tempting, you should also remember that we have plenty of shared apartmentsDuring summer it is easier to get a room in shared apartment than studio apartment. Shared apartments are usually more affordable than studios and you get to know new people while living in the shared apartment. 5. Fill in informaton carefully and make sure they are correct

POAS do not have queues or waiting lists. We take the urgency of and the reason for the need for a flat into consideration when selecting tenants. Apartments are offered based on information you give us via application form and for this reason it is important that you fill in all the information carefully and they are correct. Fill in the date when you need the apartment, why you need an apartment and information about your income.

For exchange students there are few furnished apartment on Vaahterakuja 5 and Ritakatu 13 G-H-I-J. If you are exhange student inform us on the application if you are interested in furnished shared apartment.

Application is valid three months at time. If you wish to make changes to your application or renew it, please contact our office. You can read more about applying and applying process on Find a home section.

Notice that we contact you if we can offer you an apartment. Offers are mainly sent via email.

After you get an offer you can go see the apartment before accepting it. Before signing the rent agreement you should sent appendices to the application, and pay the security deposit. (Shared apartments 200 €, studios/two room apartments 300 €, three room apartments 450 €) You will get an separate invoice of security deposit.

Searh for flats and fill in an application!

POAS will distribute the updated terms and conditions to tenants this week. Changes to the lease will be valid from 1st of January 2019. Changes are about POAS privacy policy, charge sheet and ban of smoking.

Due to new EU privacy policy regulation POAS also updated privacy policy principles. In spring also a new charge sheet was introduced. In accordance with charge sheet costs resulting from tenants carelessness will be charged from the tenant. You can find updated charge sheet also on POAS website.

POAS wants to improve the living environment and promote the wellbeing of its tenants. For this reason in addition to the current ban of smoking in communal areas, smoking will be banned in all POAS apartments, balconies and external areas of the properties from 1st of January 2019. After this smoking is allowed only on areas specifically designated for smoking. POAS will set up an area for smoking within the outdoor areas of all of its houses by 30th of September 2018.

Updated terms and conditions, for the changed parts, and a charge sheet for damage caused by tenants are distributed to tenants this week. Specific details can be read on the material distributed to tenants. Please e-mail any questions to toimisto@poas.fi.

Do you live alone in a shared apartment or is your roommate moving away? – Suggest a roommate to yourself!

As a tenant living in a POAS´s shared apartment you can suggest roommate to yourself, if the other room in shared apartment is empty or if your current roommate is moving away.

If you wish to suggest a roommate, follow these steps:

1. Ask your friend to fill out an application to us in which he/she applies to particular shared apartment. Ask your friend also write on application that he/she is applying to the specific apartment living as your roommate.

2. Send an e-mail to toimisto@poas.fi in which you tell your name, address and the name of your friend that would like to live with you in a shared apartment.

POAS will check the suggested person´s application and if everything is ok and we can offer the apartment, your friend can live with you in a shared apartment!

Suggested person has to meet POAS´s criteria – either be a student or under 30 years old  working person. We will check the applicants appendices and credit history.

You can nominate roommate only in 2 person´s shared apartment. Notice that you can suggest a roommate to yourself who is opposite sex than you! In this case you need to be prepared to prove to Kela that you are not a couple or belong to same household.
