You can now apply for our new apartments that will be completed in Fall 2020! The application process is same than applying any other POAS apartments – by filling out the application form on our website.

Vaahterakuja 3A in Peltolammi area is the first student housing project in Finland that has received so-called green loan financing from the municipal financing, directed at financing green investments. Due to the financing, selected applicants must fill POAS’s tenant criteria as mainly students are accepted.

Green loan financing is an indication of the investment in environmental well-being of the building design, technical solutions and construction.

From the start, this eight-storey 56-apartment building has been designed to be modern and, above all, ecological. For the first time in POAS’s history, this building will have a geothermal heating. Its construction costs are slightly higher than in district heating, but careful calculations show that the system will pay off in less than 10 years. The building will have underfloor heating, which ensures a comfortable and even distribution of heat to the room and there are no radiators in way of interior design. In general, all choices and technical solutions have been advanced with energy efficiency first in mind.

Despite all the great environmental technology, people are in the center of the design. Building has seven floors, and the eighth floor will be a rooftop club room with stunning views and a rooftop terrace. The first floor, in turn, has a soundproofed music room where you can play, sing and rap in peace. Who knows if the room turns into a small studio…

Poastinen is our customer magazine which have been published twice a year since 2016. Due to Ecocompass environmental certificate, we aim to decrease the amount of paper information and move our services to digital platforms. Therefore we’ll publish a new, electronic Poastinen newsletter, which is delivered four times a year. More frequent publication cycle also allows us to utilize Poastinen for informing tenants about current topics.

All contents of electronic newsletter is provided both in Finnish and English. It will be sent via email through our tenant portal, so our tenants are able to read the previous newsletters afterwards by logging into tenant portal. In addition, we want to keep a piece of old traditions and publish one paper magazine too. Annual paper publication will be delivered to tenants’ homes during summertime.

Poastinen, both paper and electronic form, are available for reading also in our office and in the Poastinen publication section of our website.

POAS joins to improve women and girls’ status as well as prevent dividing jobs to “men and women’s jobs”. Instead of sending Christmas cards and gifts, we have donated the money to ZAU campaign.

The ZAU Campaign, which will commemorate the 100th anniversary of Zonta International, aims at attracting the interest of girls in mathematics, science and technology-related studies and correcting the distorted division into men’s and women’s work. As a result, the worth of a “woman’s euro” will be increased in the future.

The clubs of ZI District 20 implement the campaign in 2018–2019 through collaboration with LUMA Centre Finland. This network of universities aims at inspiring and encouraging children and young people – our “future makers” – to take interest in and study mathematics, science and technology with the help of the latest innovations in science and technology education.

POAS operates in real estate and building management industry which usually has predominantly male employees. We employ 18 full-time employees and 8 of them are women.

Zonta International is an international service organization with the mission of advancing the status of women. Zonta International seeks to provide opportunities for women through a number of educational programs and awards.

Our network administrators are working on this issue and try to solve it as soon as possible. POASnet works normally in Vaahterakuja 9 as well as the rest of our housing complexes.

The service operator of electric cars pilot project has changed in August 2019. The OP shared car service will change over from OP to a large domestic leasing company Secto Automotive.

– During the pilot project we had enough time to get good experience regarding the benefits of shared cars and assess the markets maturity in our area for shared cars.
An occupancy rates achieved with our shared cars and feedback from our users have been very positive. The goal is to get the shared cars back in use smoothly through the new operator, says Timo Jokinen from POAS.

POAS shared cars are only in use for POAS own work-related usage until the changeover between operators. Secto is hoping to launch the public rental use of shared cars during Autumn 2019. The head of sales at Secto, Juha Qvick, says that Secto has invested in the shared cars service and its functionality during a long time:

– Shared cars have been talked about a lot publicly, but the service has been difficult to implement practically. With the help of the user community, we have developed our own solution during a long period of time and I think we have managed to pack all the necessary features together into an easy to use, scalable and cost-effective package.

In connection with the change of the service operator, the contract for the rental cars will be renewed. After the change of the operator, POAS shared cars can be hired from familiar home points with old prices. Secto will inform about the new contract at the start of the service.

POAS will announce when the application is launched and shared cars are available for rent again!

Update on 3rd of October 2019: The new reservation system is still under development since POAS wants to make sure shared cars are only available for our tenants. Unfortunately this development is taking longer than expected. We will inform immediately when reservation system is launched.

POAS is installing water saving parts in our apartments (bubble nozzle to kitchen and toilet tap as well as a constant pressure valve to shower blender) which will help us to reduce water consumption by 25-30 %. Also this will reduce water heating costs significantly. During these maintenance visits we will also check the condition of toilet seat and sink. This does not require any actions from our tenants.

Water saving parts have been installed in Vihilahdenkatu 7 A-D. During Autumn this maintenance takes place also in Tieteenkatu 18, Vaahterakuja 7 and 9 as well as Perkiönkatu 85. The project continues in 2020 in Vihinkuja.

This project is a part of actions necessitated by EcoCompass environmental certificate. In 2018-2020 three-year environmental programme POAS’ focus points are decreasing water and heating energy consumption, waste management and environmental communication.

As part of national EcoCompass system, we have committed to developing the management of our environmental matters and taking responsibility of the environmental impacts caused by our operations. We aim to increase our tenants’ environmental knowledge and support tenants to make environmental actions in their every-day life!

In their meeting on 15th July 2019 the board of POAS has decided to decrease the rent of shared apartments in Ritakatu 13 A and C-buildings. The aim of the decrease is to improve the utilization rate of these shared apartments. Tenants have received a notification including new rent invoices.

Rent discount takes place from 1st September 2019 onwards!
